Trumpet player and vocalist Henry “Red” Allen was an innovative and influential early jazz musician from New Orleans. Allen was influenced by Louis Armstrong, and his early work is sometimes mistaken for his Armstrong. Allen began to distinguish himself as a musician as his career grew and, in turn, influenced a new generation of jazz musicians.
