Indian Love Call

An excerpt of Indian Love Call, a song from "Rose-Marie," a 1924 operetta-style Broadway musical. This version is by famed yodeling cowboy Slim Whitman, who originally recorded the song in 1952. It reached number two on the country charts, crossing over into the pop music Top Ten, making Whitman a star. This version is from a 1967 Hayride broadcast; a time when the legendary show's popularity had begun to fade due to the combined effects of television and the rising popularity of rock 'n' roll. In the 1960s, the show went from a weekly run to a monthly one. It ended its initial run in 1969, as a quarterly broadcast. Listen »
